NEWS+BLOG

Cyberdesign Works is proud to announce the launch of Australia's newest media portal, Scopical.com.au.

Why are we proud? Well, we designed and built it!
After 4 months of development, countless man hours and alot of late nights this portal with a twist has been unleashed on the world. (in beta of course)

But why do I care about another news portal you ask? Because this ones different I say. This one will pay you to publish content on it! True!

Rather than me woffling on here is the official press release.

-------------------------------------------

New Australian online media portal launched

Scopical announced today the launch of its all Australian interactive online news and media portal. Delivering the latest in National and World News, Business & Finance, Sport, Politics, Tech/Media and Entertainment, the portal offers a competitive choice to the Australian market.

Scopical delivers up to the minute coverage in textual and image media covering a mix of national and world events, people, times and places. Scopical takes media from agencies, news wires and bloggers throughout Australia and will be the first major portal to offer a real financial return on media additions by all users.

Scopical hosts a key difference in its ability to harness user-generated content in news and media delivery and is the first to fully embrace this increased media form in up to the minute news coverage. Combining objective raw national and world news with the latest in text, image and video media, scopical.com.au is a breaking source of news and analysis for all Australians.
Everyone can now add up to the minute media anytime, anywhere - and starting November*, all users can add and earn for relevant news or entertainment content with up to 50% of advertising revenue being returned.

The company’s Head of Media and Strategy Mr. Elgar Welch said “Scopical offers a competitive, up to the minute source of news and media whilst providing the opportunity for real interactivity and financial returns on text, image and media content,” “The strength of Scopical is it’s ability to deliver live and extremely relevant media. A great deal of people now have camera phones, laptops, digital cameras, broadband access and an eye for what’s happening in the
news sphere, we can now deliver this content and reward all users with a real financial return too.”

The move represents the first major independent addition to the Australian online media market in a number of years. With a competitive daily offering, the portal, available at www.scopical.com.au will provide the latest in news and media coverage all day, every day.
Scopical collects and produces its own textual and image news content whilst posting live coverage from Australian based news agencies, bloggers, freelancers and individuals everywhere.

The company will embark on an aggressive development strategy with further technology and user interactivity flagged in the coming months.

The portal has correspondents based in the UK, New Zealand, North America, Russia, Asia and the Middle East, providing the latest in coverage of world events and adding an additional dimension to the portal.

Scopical will provide:
• The latest, up to the minute news and media coverage
• Additions from agencies, news pro’s, freelancers and ordinary Australians
• Harness user-generated content in news, media and entertainment coverage and beginning November give back 25% of ad-revenue for text and a further 25% for image and video/audio media

Ah good, a spare 2 minutes!

Friday, 17 August, 2007

Well I like to think that it's a good problem to have. Too few hours in the day.

Our team of trained monkeys have been slaving away for the last month, at times pulling 48 hour shifts just to get the work out. So to help relieve the pressure ( and hopefully prevent a postal episode) we have just employed two new developers. Welcome guys!

We have managed to push out a couple of new websites for beta launch whilst additional functionality and refinements are being made. These new additions to the Cyber portfolio are:

Sunlite City Hardware & Delmege Commercial Property.

I will go into both of these websites in greater detail in future posts.
With a little luck we will also be launching four more sanscode websites in the next three weeks.

We have also had some big wins which I unfortunatly cannot tell you about just yet but stay tuned for the juicy updates.

The end of August will also see the launch of our biggest project yet.

As always stay tuned for more info as it comes to hand!

Its been a busy time in Cyber Space

Tuesday, 29 May, 2007

Yes, Yes i know! Posting has been, well, very light recently. But for good reason. We have been busy little bee's.

Apart from the usual ebb and flow of work from our existing clients we have recently picked up new web design contracts for:

  • Delmege Commercial Property
  • Building People Recruitment
  • i2i Recruitment &
  • Trannys Print Solutions

All will be built on our sanscode CMS.

We have launched Platinumpackaging.com.au, a new Jewellery Packaging & Watch Winders wholesaler, and continued to upgrade and expand Mynetfone.com.au.

We have lost one of our fantastic designers, Homaira, who has gone and gotten herself married, and is moving to Germany!

To replace her (as difficult as it was) we have hired an equally fantastic designer who is to start in a few weeks time.

We have also put on a second developer and 4th full time designer.. All in an effort to ensure that we maintain the level of service and quality that you have come to expect from Cyberdesign!

It is looking to be a very busy third quarter as we enter into Catalogue Design season as well.

All of this certinally doesn't mean that we can't handle more work though! Quite the contrary, Bring it on!

It's been a rewarding month

Easy Living Home Elevators - http://www.easy-living.com.au
Ad-Incentives - http://www.ad-inc.com.au

There are two weeks remaining in the month. Can we get another award or two?

Launch - MyNetFone.com.au

Monday, 14 May, 2007

MyNetFone - Australian VoIP Provider

After a frantic two months of development, Cyberdesign Works is proud to announce the launch of the new and vastly improved MyNetFone website.

This story begins 9 months ago with a phone call from the MyNetFone Marketing Coordinator, and after a lengthy negotiation and specification process we were appointed to the task of completely overhauling the MyNetFone website and building in a number of new features and functions (these I will get into shortly).

The brief was, "go for broke and wow us", so we got stuck right in, with different concepts coming from each of our designers. Concept refinement saw elements from pretty much every concept combined into the final product that you see now.

Sure it looks great but what does it do?

The new MyNetFone website is built using Cyberdesign's own sanscode CMS. This is the same CMS that underpins the majority of our web design projects. The difference is in the number of additional, custom modules and components that were developed to support the numerous functions and features of the website.

What are these features you ask?

Well from an administration point of view absolutely no programming, html or technical knowledge is required of the MyNetFone administrators in order to maintain the website. Ah the beauty of sanscode. For a sanscode demonstration please contact us.

MyNetFone Administrators can also dynamically control all devices, plans, promotions and specials with the click of a button.

Website users have access to the following features and functions:

  • International Call Rate Search
  • Savings Calculator
  • MyNetFone Support including
    • Downloads
    • FAQ's
    • Terminology
    • Support Ticket submission
  • Online Purchasing via a secure shop

sanscode also allows for the rapid and inexpensive development and deployment of new functionality as required.

Web Design - Platinum AwardAward winning Design

The MyNetFone.com.au website has also just earned us a Platinum award from the Australian Web Designers Network. Judged by a panel of Judges on Graphics, Artwork, Layout, Navigability, Functionality and Originality the award is a nice pat on the back after alot of very hard work.

Bright, shiny objects.

New Client - SilverTrak

SilverTrak Logo Design & Corporate Identity

Well not entirely a new client as we did actually design the previous Silvertrak website, however we have recently been awarded the contract to re-develop their current website.

The new Silvertrak website will be powered by Cyberdesign Works' own sanscode cms, the same cms that underpins all recent Cyberdesign Works web design projects, and will allow Silvertrak to serve a number of different yet interlinked microsites from a single web based control panel.

As well as the website project, we have been commissioned to re-design the Silvertrak logo which has now been completed, and can be viewed here.

One of the driving factors in the web site re-development project is that SilverTrak are now the Australian reseller of the Rimage range of Disc Publishing & Disc Printing Systems.
