Die Spam Die - So what the hell is SPF and why is it important?
Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is an attempt to control forged e-mail. SPF is not directly about stopping spam – junk email. It is about giving domain owners a way to say which mail sources are legitimate for their domain and which ones aren't. While not all spam is forged, virtually all forgeries are spam. SPF is not anti-spam in the same way that flour is not food: it is part of the solution.

The DNS Brain Melt
For the vast majority of the people we deal with, I certainly have no expectations of even a basic understanding of what DNS is and even more so how it works, however, I can't tell you how often I am astounded by the lack of DNS knowledge amongst IT professionals.

Kashgar Re-launch
2 years ago we first launched an ecommerce website for Kashgar, a fantastic little tribal artifacts and jewellery retailer in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.
Originally powered by our sanscode 3 CMS, the Kashgar.com.au website was held as one of our favourite websites due not only the website design, but also the love and care taken by the sites Owners, Linda & Ian, in managing the site with new products and regular, relevant and very interesting articles and stories of their world travels.
Today we are happy to launch a completely re-designed and re-developed kashgar.com.au, powered by our sanscode 4 Content Management System, and CDWpay eCommerce Solution.

The finished artist
What's a finished artist?
A graphic designer at 5.30pm? (Ha! Most designers would scoff – we're rarely finished at 5.30pm).
So, most people within or around the design and advertising industries will have heard tell of the finished artist. (If you're in the US, your graphic design agency or ad agency likely employs a couple of productions artists. Same thing.) Not many seem all that clear on what it is not. (This is reflected in the Australian government's list of occupations for immigration purposes, where “finished artist” doesn't even appear, falling between the stools of “graphic artist” and “pre-press operator”.

Print versus digital
Since the advent of the internet in the mid-90s people inside and outside the graphic design industry have talked about the death of print. In 1999, 'experts' were giving print as an effective means of brand communications five years to live. When the dot-com bubble burst shortly afterwards, those voices quietened down, but recently they have started up again. So here's the thing: Yes, digital is becoming more and more important, and some – but not all - of this is coming at the expense of print.

Vive la resolution
Vive la résolution. You've found your graphic design agency, they're working away on your annual report, your online product catalogue, a couple of brochures and some banner ads, and between you you've decided that some imagery would be very helpful in telling the story of your brand. You have a bunch of digital images available to give to your agency studio – product shots from your suppliers perhaps, lifestyle shots from head office, headshots of your board or sales team, whatever it might be (not pictures of your youngest child's rabbit, ideally – that's happened, believe it or not) - and now there are a couple of things you need to know.
