Interactivity in InDesign CS5

One of the more interesting developments in CS5 is the rapprochement between print- and digital-ready document creation, particularly in InDesign, where more interactivity can now be built into documents. This, along with improvements in PDF and Flash file export capabilities, has pushed InDesign further along the workflow path for digital production, which saves duplication of work for the savvy design agency who's willing to take on both traditional and new-media worlds.

A short history of the PDF

Right at the tail end of the 1980s the Macintosh hit the design industry with a vengeance, and within five years everyone was using one - graphic designers, typsetters, finished artists, layout artists, visualisers and art directors. Everyone. Much was made during that time of the advent of the paperless office, not to mention the paperless design studio, but by 1994 the average design agency found itself swamped with three times the amount of paper as before.
