Launch - MyNetFone.com.au

Monday, 14 May, 2007

MyNetFone - Australian VoIP Provider

After a frantic two months of development, Cyberdesign Works is proud to announce the launch of the new and vastly improved MyNetFone website.

This story begins 9 months ago with a phone call from the MyNetFone Marketing Coordinator, and after a lengthy negotiation and specification process we were appointed to the task of completely overhauling the MyNetFone website and building in a number of new features and functions (these I will get into shortly).

The brief was, "go for broke and wow us", so we got stuck right in, with different concepts coming from each of our designers. Concept refinement saw elements from pretty much every concept combined into the final product that you see now.

Sure it looks great but what does it do?

The new MyNetFone website is built using Cyberdesign's own sanscode CMS. This is the same CMS that underpins the majority of our web design projects. The difference is in the number of additional, custom modules and components that were developed to support the numerous functions and features of the website.

What are these features you ask?

Well from an administration point of view absolutely no programming, html or technical knowledge is required of the MyNetFone administrators in order to maintain the website. Ah the beauty of sanscode. For a sanscode demonstration please contact us.

MyNetFone Administrators can also dynamically control all devices, plans, promotions and specials with the click of a button.

Website users have access to the following features and functions:

  • International Call Rate Search
  • Savings Calculator
  • MyNetFone Support including
    • Downloads
    • FAQ's
    • Terminology
    • Support Ticket submission
  • Online Purchasing via a secure shop

sanscode also allows for the rapid and inexpensive development and deployment of new functionality as required.

Web Design - Platinum AwardAward winning Design

The MyNetFone.com.au website has also just earned us a Platinum award from the Australian Web Designers Network. Judged by a panel of Judges on Graphics, Artwork, Layout, Navigability, Functionality and Originality the award is a nice pat on the back after alot of very hard work.

New Client - SilverTrak

Thursday, 03 May, 2007

SilverTrak Logo Design & Corporate Identity

Well not entirely a new client as we did actually design the previous Silvertrak website, however we have recently been awarded the contract to re-develop their current website.

The new Silvertrak website will be powered by Cyberdesign Works' own sanscode cms, the same cms that underpins all recent Cyberdesign Works web design projects, and will allow Silvertrak to serve a number of different yet interlinked microsites from a single web based control panel.

As well as the website project, we have been commissioned to re-design the Silvertrak logo which has now been completed, and can be viewed here.

One of the driving factors in the web site re-development project is that SilverTrak are now the Australian reseller of the Rimage range of Disc Publishing & Disc Printing Systems.

Cyberdesign Works would like to announce the launch of the completely re-designed and developed Easy Living Home Elevators website.

Easy Living Home Elevators are a 100% Australian owned and operated residential Lift Company providing the highest quality in home elevator, function and design.

As well as awarding elevators Easy Living Home Elevators also offer an impressive range of Limited Mobility Lifts such as stair lifts and wheelchair lifts.

The Easy Living Home Elevators website is powered by Cyberdesign Work's sanscode CMS which allows for complete in-house maintenance of the Easy Living Home Elevators website.

This new website provides architects and building designers the ability to download lift specification documents and drawings, specifications and galleries of existing installations.

Cyberdesign Works is pleased to add this impressive website and prestigious client to our portfolio.

How NOT to copy a website

Tuesday, 09 January, 2007

A couple of months ago we received what we like to think of as a great compliment. One of our clients websites was duplicated illegally. A compliment for us however a major headache for our client.

JD Security discovered that they were receiving an unusual number of hits from India. being an Australian based company this didn't quite make sense to them and upon a little bit of investigation they found that their website had been copied by an unscrupulous Indian web design company for an Indian security company.

What amazes us is how lazy the duplication was! take a look at these screenshots and see if you can tell the difference.

Original JD Security web site:

Duplicated Indian web site:

Not only was the design exactly the same but our Indian friends also left the original JD Security Google Analytics code in and neglected to change the meta descriptions and left in code admitting that the page was:

Notice the references to Australia, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and the ACT!

Further damaging the Indian copy was the fact that a simple payment form from the JD Security website still linked back to JD Security!

You have to ask yourself why would they even bother!

Today 2 months on the copy is still live and unfortunately there seems to be very little that we or our client can do about the issue. We have alerted Google to the issue in an attempt to have the old Analytics code canceled and a new code issued however at this stage i am unaware of the outcome of this.

I am also fairly certain that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act doesn't apply to Australia let alone India.
What is one to do!?

It also appears that the "web design company" and i use the term loosely, that made the duplicate site is a serial offender. Check out the links on the footer of the offending page and check the code.

http://www.gardinersecurity.co.uk/index.asp has been copied by http://www.sekurit.in/

Is there a way to fight back at this blatant laziness?
